Eliza Raye’s First Mountain Biking Experience

Upon returning from Madison, WI this past weekend, I watched as 8-year old Eliza Raye spent half the afternoon riding her bike in our back yard. When we walked Cali to the park, Eliza again rode her bike, preferring to ride “off-road”—up and down grassy hills, over roots, and riding off curbs. It occurred to me that she was ready—or at least interested—in giving mountain biking a try. Over breakfast yesterday, she asked if we could go mountain biking on the Cabin John Trail later in the day. Absolutely, I said. On the ride home from her weekly golf clinic, she asked once again if mountain biking was in our plans for the day. Sticking to my commitment, we jumped on the CJT at 6:00 p.m. last night where she went mountain biking for the first time. She loved the thrill of it all and is eager to try Schaeffer Farm later in the week.
