Chicago/Ridgemoor Country Club

Tuesday, June 21 would represent the first day of our Summer roadtrip. It was spent driving to Chicago, where we stayed a couple days with Yvonne’s family. Upon our arrival (after spending 12 hours in the car), we were greeted by severe thunderstroms and loss of power that evening. Unfortunately, power still wasn’t restored by the time we left this morning. Yesterday was an extraordinary day. Golf always brings good friends together, and yesterday was no exception. Mark Jozwiak, with whom I started my career at Cable & Wireless in the late 80’s, hosted me at Ridgemoor Country Club. This apparently is the only private club in Chicago proper–and a club where Ben Hogan still holds the course record. What a beautiful track. This was also the first time seeing Mark in 20 years, as he moved to Chicago from D.C. in the early 90’s. Joining us on the golf course was was one of my clients Todd “tough mudder” Kelly. I have worked with Todd for many years, but never had an opportunity to meet him in person. This was one of the most entertaining and enjoyable rounds of golf ever played. Lots of laughter and theatrics…and stories that need to be left at the golf course. Mark and his partner Brian couldn’t have been more hospitable. Hopefully I’ll have opportunities to see these guys again in the near future. Great dudes indeed.
